Illusions by Richard Bach

December 17, 2006

Finished it Friday night. Took me 1 week. Simple language, less than 200 pages. Pretty easy read. I definitely liked it. Its about a messiah who gets out of the messiah business to fly planes. He meets up with an old friend and teaches that friend how we all have it in us to be a messiah if we just realize this is a world of illusions. Has a slight matrix mentality to it in that sense except the real world transcends space-time, not that we are run by computers 🙂

From his messiah handbook:
Your only obligation in any lifetime is to be true to yourself. Being true to anything else is not only impossible bu tht e mark of a fake messiah.”

“You are led through tyour lifetime by the inner learning creature, the playful spiritual being that is your real self”

“You’re always free to change your mind and choose a different future, or a different past.”

“There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in its hands. You seek problems because you need their gifts.”

“If you will practice being fictional for awhile, you will understand that fictional characters are sometimes more real than people with bodies and heartbeats.”
